The Golden Rock of Kyaikhtiyo is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites for Myanmar Buddhists. The gold–plated boulder is said to maintain its balance thanks to a single hair of the Buddha being enshrined inside the pagoda. To reach the top of the mountain , one can either make a 17km climb (which will take around 7 hours or more by walking) or sit on the loading area of open trucks that take passengers through a steep and winding road. Once arrived at the pagoda, one can enjoy a spectacular view, which is particularly beautiful a sunrise or sunset. The whole site has a magic charisma and famous for meditation.
Learn not only about the spiritual heart of the Buddhism but also discover the natural beauty of the region around Kyaikhtiyo. This is an adventure trip as you must take a ride by an open truck from the base camp to the mountain top.
Approx. 0800 A.M., pick up from your hotel and drive to Golden Rock. En route, visit a tree shrine dedicated to legendary animist spirits known as "Nats", a handicraft village that produces woven bamboo wares. Continue to Kin Pun "base camp" (110 km - 3½ hours) and onward to Kyaiktiyo (the "Golden Rock"), a huge boulder completely covered by gold leaves and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. From Kin Pun, a steep and rough 11-km dirt road leads to the upper staging point, a journey made in open trucks, which can be very crowded. On arrival, watch the beauty of a sunset at this important pilgrimage site. Both lunch and dinner to your own account. Accommodation at Mountain Top Hotel near Kyaikhtiyo (Golden Rock). (Deluxe room)
