Description

A pleasant 2 days walking tour to Lamaing, Hti Thein and Tone Lei Village, mostly inhabited by the ethnic Danu, Pa-O and Taungyoe people. The path is relatively unknown to most of the tourists and specially crafted for people who likes to hike off the beaten track.

In this tour, you will get to learn the wide spreading culture of local people and a new trekking route to Danu and Pa-O Village will be introduced. Witness local farmers still working with oxen and buffalo rather than machines in this traditional rural environment and thoroughly pass through colourful farming of vegetables and flowers on your way.

Experience the hiking in the villages and dinner on the hill overlooking stunning view of Kalaw. The country side in the Shan State offers the most stunning pictures.

In every season, the colours of the fields are different and the farmers doing their work offer great photo opportunities. Meeting the local tribal people and observing their typical ways of life are simply amazing.

Note

Please note that all the itineraries are  subject to  change until last minute depending on the weather and road condition.

Please note that in Kalaw, we need to use the mini truck to transfer from the hotel to trekking point and trekking point to hotel.

And when we arrive to Inle Lake, our boats will be waiting the trekking point and it will transfer us to the hotel on the lake or in Nyaung Shwe.

Important Notes:

Please note that you will have to buy the extra light food and soft drinks for the whole trip in Kalaw. In the villages walk through, you cannot buy anything. There is no shop, restaurant, phone etc.

Visitors will sleep in either private houses (local!) or monasteries. Please note, that everybody is sleeping in one and the same room and there is absolutely no privacy. Man and woman have to sleep separately!

There are NO showers or bathrooms and you have to wash themselves together with the other people with a sarong.

For the trekking tour the following items are essential:

Itinerary

Day 1 Kalaw – Lamaing – Nang Orh, Paw Kei – Kone Hla – Pattu Pauk – Hti Thein Car Light Truck (Kalaw to Lamaing) 5 ½-6 Hours Monastery in Hti Thein
Day 2 Hti Thein – Kyauk Su, Nang Yoke – Tone Lei – Inle Lake Boat (Transfer to hotel or Nyaung Shwe Jetty) 3 – 4 Hours
Day 1 Kalaw – Lamaing – Hti Tein (5 ½ to 6 hours) (-/L/D)

This morning pick up from your hotel and drive to visit colorful market in Kalaw which was formerly a British Hill station is situated at 4365 ft is surrounded by hills and pine trees. After buying the necessary items for the trekking, proceed to starting point of the trekking (Lamaing Village) at the outskirts of the town and start trekking to the hill tribe villages. Walk through the forested area of the region and villages such as Nang Orh, Paw Kei and arrive Kone Hla Village at lunch time.

After lunch at Kone Hla, proceed your trekking where the road and trail goes through beautiful scenery. On the way you will visit the villages of Palaung, Danu, Pao and Taung Yoe. Your local station tour guide will introduce you to the villagers and will show you the traditional ways of life. The path goes up and down. Native along the way do the plantation for Tea leaves, Coffee, Cordial leaves, Mustard, Ginger, Malt Rice, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Sesame. Trekking proceed by passing Pattu Pauk and arrive Hti Thein Village in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in the Monastery of Hti Thein Village.

Day 2 Hti Taing – Tone Lei – Inle Lake (3 – 4 hours) (B/L)

After breakfast, continue the trekking trip to the shore of the Inle Lake. The trail goes through beautiful scenery of Bamboo forest. The natives of Pao, Taung Yoe and Intha along the way grow fruits; Banana, Papaya, Potato and Beans. Lunch at Tone Lei Village. After lunch trekking proceed and arrive to the shore of Inle Lake in the afternoon where our boat will be waiting to transfer to your hotel on Inle Lake or Nyaung Shwe.
