Inle Lake

INLE LAKE, the second largest in Myanmar is, 22 km long, roughly 11 km wide 875 m above sea level at Nyaung Shwe in Shan State.  Inthas living in the lake are famous for propelling their flat bottomed boats by standing at one leg and wrapping the other leg around the oar. The lake shore and lake islands bear 17 villages mostly inhabited by those people. Various ethic groups are living on the high hills rim the lake on both sides of the lake can be observed on market days.
