On this tour, you will visit the most important places in Yangon and Syriam. Alaungpaya, the founder of the last line of Burmese kings, made Yangon his capital in 1753 and so it remained until 2005 when the capital was moved to Napyidaw.
A green city of tropical trees, shady parks and beautiful lakes, leafy sidewalks, pavement tea-shops and magnificent colonial buildings, it offers an intriguing mix of Burmese culture with Chinese and Indian quarters. You will be fully satisfied as your experienced guide shares not only the history but also the culture and religion of the city and its people.
Upon arrival at Yangon Airport, you will be welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel (Hotel check-in time is 1400 hrs). Your journey begins with a visit to the magnificent Reclining Buddha at Chauk Htat Gyi, take a photo stop at the Karaweik Hall, a ‘Hamsa-bird’ shaped floating barge on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake. In the afternoon, drive through the colonial style buildings downtown and photo stop at the gilded Sule Pagoda dating back over 2,000 years, The City Hall near the Chinatown area and the Indian quarter.
A visit will also made to the 120 years old historic former Secretariat Building (closed on Sundays) where the country’s most revered Independence leader General Aung San and other 6 cabinet members had been assassinated by the murders. The Secretariat Building is a historic landmark in Yangon which exemplifies imposing and defensive Victorian-colonial architecture and its currently on the Yangon City Heritage list.
