Itinerary

Day 1 Yangon – Heho – Inle Lake – Inndein (By flight) (-/L/-)

Early morning, pick up from your hotel in Yangon and transfer to Airport for domestic flight to Heho (approx: 0845/0955 – direct). Meet with our guide at Heho Airport and drive down into the valley to Nyaung Shwe (Approx 1 hour), the jetty town of Inle Lake. On the way a stop is made at Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery for a nice photo. Then transfer to your hotel in Nyaung Shwe (Early check in is subject to the availability of the hotels). Then, walk down to the jetty and take a long-tailed boat across the lake to Indaing at the western end of Inle for one of the most scenic trips on the Lake. Enjoy your Traditional Set Lunch at a local restaurant on Inle Lake.
Proceed by boat by passing through the busy village of Yawama, the largest on the Lake with its many channels and tall teak houses on stilts, enter a long often tree lined canal towards Inndein Jetty with farmers cultivating their land on either side under the backdrop of the Shan Hills. After disembarking it is a 15 minute walk through Inndein village to reach the 14-18th century pagoda ruins of Nyaung Ohak; many pagodas here remain charmingly un-renovated with plants and even small trees growing out of them making it very atmospheric. A covered walkway, popular with souvenir stalls leads up to Shwe (Golden) Inn Dein Pagoda, a complex of weather beaten zedi; some sadly reconstructed although the views from the top make it worth the ascent. Returning to the river jetty we take our long-tailed boat back along the canal to the Lake and proceed to Nyaung Shwe. Dinner (By own account) and accommodation at Hotel in Nyaung Shwe.

Day 2 Inle Lake (B/L/-)

Early this morning, bring your breakfast box from the hotel and then take your private boat trip to one of the spot on Inle Lake to catch the ceremony of the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival. During this occasion, the Berge which carry the Buddha Statues will travel from one village to another according to their schedule. You can see the Elegant Berge row by the local Inn Thar men on which the Buddha statues are brought. After enjoying the scenes, visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the holiest religious site in southern Shan State and the boat construction workshop at Nampan village as well stopping to see some traditional handicrafts - silk weaving on wooden handlooms in Inpawkon village, a cheroot workshop and a paper and parasol work shops where you will see long neck (Kayan women).
Lunch will be served at local restaurant on Inle Lake. Continue by boat to visit Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery (built with over 600 teak pillars) and is one of the oldest monasteries on the lake where inside its large wooden meditation hall you can see over 200 years old ancient Buddha statues. Returning back to the hotel the beauty of sunset over Inle Lake by passing through the floating gardens enchants all visitors. Dinner (by own account) and accommodation at Hotel in Nyaung Shwe.

BOAT RACING If you are visit dates coincide with boat racing days, you will have a chance to watch the Boat racing of the local Innthar people. In this amazing boat racing, you will see the contesters rowing the boat by legs on a long tailed boat and get your best photo as a memo. In this Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda festival the boat racing will celebrate 3 days at Inle Lake, 30 Sept (in Nyaung Shwe), 10th Oct & 11th Oct in front of Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda.
