Bagan

BAGAN, one of the riches Archaeological Zone in South East Asia is located 42km south of Mandalay and 690 km north of Yangon. It is on the eastern bank of Ayeyarwaddy and can travel by flight or land from all other cities. Bagan was founded by King Anawrahta in 849 AD. During the Bagan Dynasty, the Kings built as many as 4400 temples over a 230 years period on this river side plain. Neglect, looting, earthquake, erosion and bad dung have done their part to undermine its majesty, but Bagan still stands strong for its magical beauty and breathtakingly scenery.
